Our Mission
When you shop at The Plane Tree its a super friendly, customer centred experience, powered by neurodivergence.
People with additional needs are often overlooked, unseen or undervalued. We aim to change that by being a specialist day service provider for neurodivergent adults seeking workplace skills and experiences.
Our little shop in the centre of Beeston sells handmade gifts, cards and artwork made by over forty different local artists, alongside some special items made for you by our team
What We Do
Workshops & Events
Join our workshops and community events, led by local artists and open to all abilities. Learn new skills, meet others, and be part of a welcoming creative space. Our workshop space is directly above the shop. However we offer some events on the ground floor. We are always happy to receive ideas for workshops and enquiries from artists who would like to teach us something new.
Collaboration with Local Artists
We stock the work of over 40 local artists and makers. Our artists are true supporters of The Plane Tree ethos. Experienced makers of handmade, quality work, as original as we are. Placements for Trainees
We offer supportive work placements for adults with additional needs, helping build confidence, independence, and real-life skills in a friendly environment. The Plane Tree is led by a small team of highly experienced, special needs practitioners. We believe in a person centred approach to meeting needs and are very happy to discuss any enquiries.
Get Involved
Local Artists:
We love working with local artists and makers. If you are an established local maker you might like to consider being a Plane Tree stockist or workshop facilitator. It’s a chance to showcase your talent, support inclusion, and be part of something meaningful.
Placement Trainees:
Do you think you’d like to try being our next shop assistant? Our trainees are at the heart of everything we do, gaining confidence, friendships, and real-life skills in a safe and supportive space where everyone is valued and included.
